conquering the treadmill

let's just say that for the past several years i have avoided treadmills at all costs.

the story...
it was roughly 2005 when my dear friend kelby and i were doing our required 20 minute "warm-up" before our volleyball private conditioning at csulb frog's gym. it was routine... we would find two machines next to each other, grab our favorite magazines, put our ipods only in one ear so we could still communicate, and get to running. well this particular day... kelby found some extra juicy news in her magazine and she wanted to share it with me. i continued the same pace but leaned over to read what she was showing me. meanwhile, my feet were getting closer and closer to the edge of the moving part of the treadmill. next thing i knew... my foot hit the stationary part of the treadmill and i literally went flying to the back and landed on my sorry butt! not only did that happen but i had my ipod resting in the cup holder so when i went flying (with the earphone still fixed in my ear) my ipod went soaring through the air and landed (no joke) about four treadmills down the row. needless to say... i was mortified yet hysterically laughing and definitely earned some unwanted attention from my fellow "froggers"! treadmills immediately gained a position on my fears list.

well the reason for this post is because TONIGHT i conquered the treadmill. yes... not only did i walk on the treadmill but i mustered up the courage to run on it once again!! i felt safe because mom and i waited until about 11 to get our fitness on so by that time the crowd was small enough for taking risks such as these (haha... i'm pathetic)! anyways... i was very careful about looking around and kept my eyes straight ahead for the majority of the time but i loved it! i just might have loved it so much that i may adapt it into my regular workout routine! laugh if you wish but my night felt accomplished!

tomorrow i will share the news with kelb!! : )

k bye. xoxo.

"when two people fall in love, the whole world can see it."

it's easy to get caught up in the stress of finishing up school, moving out on my own for the first time AND getting married all within the next 38 days! a lot of the times when people ask me about the plans i have caught myself taking the more negative route of answering by telling them of how stressed i am and how much i have to do still. i realized this and have decided to [try my very hardest] set the stress aside... these are some of the most exciting and happy times of my life and i would hate to look back and only remember how stressed i was!

yes i have lots to do and yes i am exhausted from the total of 30 minutes i was able to sleep last night, yes i have work in two hours, a volleyball game at 9:30, a seven page paper on the relation of childhood obesity and out of home eating due at midnight that i've barely started and yes i have a million and one items on my wedding checklist BUT yes i also have a wonderful life that i should take time to be grateful for. i'm grateful to have at least gotten 30 minutes of sleep last night, i'm grateful to have a job, i'm grateful to be able to play on a volleyball team with my fiance and soon to be sisters, brother and cousin, i'm grateful for being fortunate enough to get an education, i'm grateful for having a wonderful and supportive fiance who will stay up all night with me while i frantically do a month's worth of research in one night and for reassuring me when i'm on my way to class to give a presentation and start second guessing the focus of my research that i'll do great and for spending time doing my extra credit for jogging class to make up for the (occasional) mornings that i just couldn't get myself out of bed to run at seven in the morning. i'm so grateful for a loving heavenly father who i know i can always count on to help get me through tough and happy times. i'm grateful for so so so much more but remember that paper i have to finish by midnight.... ....!

i have a frame in my room that says "when two people fall in love, the whole world can see."
long story short... ... my goal for the next 38 days... [no matter what i have to do] is to make sure that everyone sees how in love and truly grateful i am to be marrying the greatest person ever instead of dwelling on my to do list!!

bye. xoxo.
